  • Part One: We’ll cover practical methods we can apply in our lessons to support our students’ autonomous learning. Our students can help prepare materials for our lessons, and participate in assessing themselves and their classmates. With very simple adjustments to our lesson plan, we can be fairer teachers and improve our relationships with the students at the same time.
  • Part Two: We’ll cover numerous ideas on how our students can actively and systematically work on their listening, reading, writing and speaking skills on their own. We’ll also look at how they can expand their vocabulary on an intermediate+ level using a combination of older methods and modern tech. These are also applicable for ourselves to challenge our own English language level.

Lýdia is a freelance interpreter and PhD student of Translation studies at Comenius University in Bratislava. She teaches lessons of consecutive and simultaneous interpreting as well as advanced English. She has several years of experience teaching in language schools and as a private tutor. Her greatest drive in both life and work is the belief in autonomous learning. That is also what has helped her master several foreign languages and keeps her motivated to continue learning.
